Because of Kosher prohibitions on mixing meat and dairy, and maybe because vegetables were what Zionists had the most of in the first half of the 20th century, Israeli Breakfast is [i]salad[/i]. Five different kinds of salad. Various tomato and cucumber mixtures with vinegar and lemon juice. Not much lettuce though. In the center are feta cheese, cottage, and another. In the lower-center is herring.
I NEVER got used to salad for breakfast.
